Founder George Copeland, a Vietnam Veteran and member of NC Veterans Business Association, helped push forward Senate Bill 105 and witnessed it passed on Tuesday, July 26.
Senate Bill 105 requires the Secretary of Revenue to compile information on the number of veterans filing tax returns in North Carolina based on voluntary disclosure of veteran status by filers on their income tax returns.
The bill also requires the Secretary of Revenue to provide this information annually to the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA). The information will help North Carolina track the number of veterans employed in our state, showing the year-by-year progress in veteran employment and economic impact.
The Southport team is proud to be part of the voice in North Carolina for businesses owned by veterans and service–disabled veterans.
